TEA's experienced and knowledgeable FAA Certified Flight Instructors are available to fly when you have the time to fly! Morning, Noon or Night, Weekdays or Weekends, we are here to assist you in earning everything from your Private Pilot's License to more advanced ratings such as the MEI and ATP! We can also assist you with Endorsements such as the High Altitude Endorsement and the Complex & High Performance Endorsement. Please read on for the details.

We are often asked what the requirements are to receive a private pilots license and what the minimum age is for such a license. Although many people begin training before the age of 17 years, you must be 17 years old to apply for the license to fly. There are a few requirements in addition to age as dictated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States Department of Transportation. They are as follows: You must be at least 17 years of age. You must pass a physical and receive a current FAA third-class medical certificate. You must log at least 40 hours of flight time and have at least 20 hours of flight with an instructor and 10 hours of solo flight. You must pass the FAA Private Pilot Airmen Knowledge written test and pass the FAA Private Pilot flight exam. You will notice that the minimum number of flight hours is 40 but the averages run a bit higher. Keep in mind that those that are more disciplined and regular regarding their flight training will achieve their goals more quickly while those that fly only several times a month may log more hours to achieve the same goal. The estimates below are averages.
